Sensory Labyrinth II Finals

ROBOtech: The Grand Finale

The highly anticipated ROBOtech 2010 had successfully ended last Thurday.

This three-day event kicked off on 16th of March starting with the Grand Opening Ceremony. The guest-of-honor invited to officiate ROBOtech was the Deputy Dean of FET, Dr. Lim Way Soong. STAD Officer, Madam Fauzianita was also invited to witness the opening ceremony. After the formality and speeches, Dr. Lim was given a gigantic remote to control a robot, which pulled off the cloth hanging over the “ROBOtech” header. Colourful confetti ensued and this marked the memorable opening of the event.

Green Robot

Green is the new pink! We have green car, green air-cond, green paper bag, green etc. Following this new trend of environmental conserving effort and supporting our ISO14000, Robotics Club is embracing the green culture by organizing a dialogue on how to build robot structure solely using recyclable objects and parts.

ROBOtech: Sensory Labyrinth II – Rules & Regulation

1. Objective

A maze robot tournament’s which requires the robots to complete the given line following in a limited time. The winner is determined when the particular maze robot first complete the maze route or by point(s) scored or by fastest time during the match.

2. Game types and categories

  • Each team shall be comprised of a maximum of 3 members. However, only 1 member is permitted to enter the game field as operator.
  • Each team can only register one robot to represent their respective team in the competition.
  • Total game play time will be 5 minutes

*A test run section is provided before competition. The time for test run is 5 minutes each team..

3. Game Field

The game field area is comprised of:

  • Line following
  • Line Maze Solving
  • The game field is made of plywood.
  • The area of the game field will be 2.4m x 3.6m throughout the competition but will be enlarge during final into 3.6m x 4.8m.
  • Section Specification:

Line Following:

  1. Robot is required to use line sensor to follow the line and solve this section.
  2. The width of the line is 3cm with 5% tolerance.
  3. The line is black in colour.

Line Maze Solving:

  1. This section consists of a maze which made of line.
  2. The width of the line is 3cm with 5% tolerance.
  3. The line is black in colour.
